Mercy Street

George is an elderly man living his life in strict routine since the death of his beloved Penny. Then, after a few strange events, he ends up with Angie and her daughter Rory living with him and his life is turned upside down.

Tess Evans creates many real and lovely characters in here – even some of the less likeable are certainly realistic. But I found the premise that brought Angie into his life – well, that just didn’t quite work for me. Much as I tried, I found it hard to get past this, but I pushed on and started to quite like George’s life. And then… I suppose it had to go the way it did, and I didn’t want it to, but… Look, read it. You’ll get it.
